Lostboycrow interview

Lostboycrow, a band consisting of four members, has recently enlightened my taste in music. Consisting of Cole, Boaz, Tim, an Chris, the band produces music that is a fusion of R&B and electronic, adding to the aesthetic of the music industry while also reviving people’s taste in music that touches not only the brain, but deep into the soul.

Lostboycrow came to Denver on April 28th, 2019. They were one of the two opening bands for The Score; their music completely altered the energy of the room. While they were performing, it felt like everyone’s anxieties slowly melted away, and no one was preoccupied with their thoughts because their thoughts were talking to them from onstage. I remember looking to my left and seeing one girl singing her heart out as passionately as the singer during their songs.

I got the opportunity to interview Lostboycrow after messaging them the day after the concert (which actually made me so excited I had to run outside to tell Mr. Bienkowski). Below is the interview:

1) What inspires the music that you guys write?

Everything.

2) What inspired the album "Santa Fe"?

Santa Fe really came from a profound need to fall in love with the

art of how we made music. a specific place. a parameter of instruments

and sounds, and the process of starting songs on the guitar. most of

the lyrical content is nostalgic to my (chris) own experiences -

conversations with a self in a time when i was first falling in love

with the process of making music and uncovering how who i was.

3) What struggles do you guys face as a band, and how do you overcome them?

Mostly deciding where to eat. and usually end up letting Boaz

decide because he has a pretty good track record at this point. were

pretty fortunate to be on the same page most the time musically.

everything else is a fun challenge.

4) Which song(s) are your favorite out of the ones you guys have written, and why?

San Junipero. Waste of time. The Lost boy. All my Lives at once.

Santa Fe. And many that aren’t released yet. The best ones always feel

more like uncovering something thats already there rather than trying

to come up with ideas.

5) Why is the band called "lostboycrow"?

It was available on twitter.

6) Who inspires your band?

The Eagles. The Beach Boys. Nick Cave. The Thermals. Tom Waits.Daniel Romano. Chico Buarque.

7) Has there been a huge turning point in your writing process? And if so, what was it?

Watching Bruce Springsteen documentary and just playing together

live. It’s made us more intentional in the studio knowing how you want

things to be live.

8) What is an inspirational moment that you guys have experienced?

Eating at Home Plate in Brush Colorado.

9) What does the song writing process look like for you guys?

Lots of good food and laughter.

10) What was one of the most rewarding songs you guys have produced, and why?

The live versions we recorded for waste of time and santa fe so

far. The most fun and challenging.
